PETER ALEXANDER JOBSON
The Folklore Rooms, Brighton
Musician, composer, and performer Peter Alexander Jobson is best known as a founding member of the Mercury Prize-nominated trio I Am Kloot. After two decades of creating music that captured hearts across the UK and Europe, Jobson is stepping into the spotlight with his debut solo album, Burn the Ration Books of Love, set for release on November 15, 2024.
Drawing inspiration from Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Lou Reed, and Scott Walker, Jobson’s music is a unique blend of the poetic and the cinematic, infused with the raw emotionality of blues legends like Robert Johnson and the storytelling wit of Northern entertainers such as Jake Thackray and Les Dawson. His distinct Northumberland accent and smoky vocals lend an evocative, Gainsbourg-esque charm to his solo work.
As the bassist and keyboard player of I Am Kloot, Jobson was integral to the band’s six studio albums, including the acclaimed Sky at Night, produced by Elbow’s Guy Garvey and Craig Potter. The album earned a Mercury Prize nomination in 2010 and cemented the band’s legacy as one of the UK’s most beloved cult acts.
Now, with Burn the Ration Books of Love, Jobson invites listeners into a deeply personal, musically rich world that reflects on his journey, offering songs that are as haunting as they are heartfelt.
