ANTONY SZMIEREK
INDIE
Concorde 2, Brighton
For Antony Szmierek, sincerity is everything. The Manchester-based poet, writer, and producer has built a reputation for blending spoken-word storytelling with dancefloor-ready beats, creating music that’s raw, honest, and deeply relatable. With comparisons to The Streets, John Cooper Clarke, and Jarvis Cocker, Szmierek’s unique style fuses heartfelt vulnerability with humour and escapism.
After gaining traction with his 2023 single “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Fallacy” and critically acclaimed EP “Poems to Dance To”, Szmierek’s debut album, “Service Station at the End of the Universe”, takes listeners on a journey through life’s big questions and small joys. Tracks like “Rafters” and “Restless Leg Syndrome” showcase his knack for vivid storytelling and emotional depth, while euphoric closer “Angie’s Wedding” celebrates connection and community.
With a live presence that has wowed audiences at Glastonbury, “Later… with Jools Holland*” and a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session, Szmierek is fast becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new voices.
