ANNA B SAVAGE

  • Patterns, Brighton

Anna B Savage’s third album, *You and I Are Earth*, marks a deeply personal evolution in her music, blending themes of healing, love, and connection to nature. Described as “a love letter to a man and to Ireland,” the record conveys a sense of intimacy while also embracing the wider world. Following her critically acclaimed albums *A Common Turn* and *in|FLUX*, this new release takes a more grounded and reflective approach, drawing heavily on her experiences in Ireland, where she has spent much of her time in recent years.

The album is steeped in Savage’s growing connection to the Irish landscape, culture, and music. Influences from Irish mythology and sean-nós singing are woven throughout the record, as well as contributions from Ireland's contemporary musicians, including members of Crash Ensemble and Lankum. Produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Lankum, Black Midi), *You and I Are Earth* features a rich array of instruments—vocals, strings, harmonium, bouzouki, and clarinets—that add layers of texture and emotional depth.

Songs like “Donegal” and “Mo Cheol Thú” explore her relationship with the sea and the land, while tracks like “The Rest of Our Lives” and “I Reach for You in My Sleep” highlight Savage’s powerful, elegant voice. Themes of vulnerability and transformation are central to the album, especially in the title track and the song “Agnes,” inspired by Savage’s meditation experience of feeling deeply connected to the earth.

With this record, Anna B Savage offers a reflective, emotionally charged work that captures the delicate balance between personal healing and the natural world, grounding her in a place both geographically and spiritually. It’s a beautiful, tender exploration of what it means to be part of something greater than oneself.
