Marketing Manager (maternity cover)
Type: 1 year, fixed term
Starting Salary: DOE
Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) plus weekend & evening work as appropriate.
Holiday Allowance: 33 days (including National Holidays)
JOY. are independent concert promoters & event organisers based in the heart of Brighton. We promote in excess of 200 events across the UK every year for an eclectic range of artists including Faithless, Interpol, Architects, The Flaming Lips, Bat For Lashes, Declan McKenna, Moderat, Gaz Coombes, The Big Moon, RY X, Kamaal Williams, Stereolab, Miles Kane, 2manydjs, The Damned, John Newman, Inhaler, Skunk Anansie, Orville Peck, Dead Kennedys, Kokoroko, The Lathums, Shame, Father John Misty and many more.
As well as concert promotion we manage the diary of the prestigious Brighton music venue, Concorde2. We also run several festivals in England including On The Beach Festival and Brighton Psych Fest.
We are looking for a creative and driven individual to join our team as Marketing Manager for 1 year maternity cover. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and implementing all aspects for marketing for JOY. and our client venues and festivals.
While the role is primarily office based, work on-site at live events and festivals will sometimes be required in order to meet the needs of the team.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the execution and delivery of all day to day marketing for JOY regional events, with assistance from the marketing team
- Oversee all activity within the marketing team and provide training, support and mentorship where required
- Keep thorough and accurate financial records of invoicing, marketing expenses, marketing activities and ad hoc staff agreements - ensuring consistency across the team and maintaining strict budgets across individual events
- Lead and oversee on all larger scale event and festival projects
- Bring a strong and confident understanding of live event marketing and the actionable steps to take to deliver a promotion from announcement until event day
- Ensure social media guidelines and brand identity are kept consistent by the marketing team and in line with company goals
- Provide instruction to and supervise the workload of other members of the marketing team. Additionally, you should be confident in providing support and feedback where required
- Liaise with and assist bookers / ticketing on best practices for facilitating new campaigns and how to approach
- Liaise with industry partners on artist & event marketing strategies
Personal Skills / Requirements
- A passion and knowledge of the music and live events industry, particularly across Brighton as well as on a wider scale across the UK
- Self motivated and able to work/time-manage independently at pace and multi-task
- Strong literary skills & confident communication, including copywriting
- High standards of organisation and logistics
- A good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as Google Sheets / Drive / Dropbox
- Understanding of mailing list data and e-marketing strategies
- META ad strategy, setup and delivery
- Proficient use of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign for event artwork and content editing
- Experience booking and implementing Out Of Home and ground marketing campaigns - print / distribution / billboards / flyering
- Strategising tailored plans across events based on their unique audiences and how to approach them
- Basic knowledge of website setup / design / SEO / landing pages
- Delivering social media content across all major platforms with knowledge of how to adapt based on content / audience
- Experience managing other team members, providing peer support and ensuring workload is managed and facilitated
- Proven experience compiling and driving creative marketing campaigns to increase ticket sales and increase brand awareness (preferred)
